Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial Rejuvenation
‘The Vampire Facial’

Treatment: £350.

The interest in this treatment has increased dramatically as the results can be seen time after time. You will see a result from the first treatment for that special occasion or have a course which enhances the building blocks each time the procedure is carried out. The platelet rich plasma can also be added to other aesthetic treatments to enhance the results

The Ageing Face.
As we age, most men and women experience a loss of volume and skin integrity that results in common cosmetic complaints, which include the following:
• Crow’s feet
• Lip and frown lines
• Deep depressions around the nose and mouth
• Volume loss in the cheeks
• Sagging around the jaw line
• Dehydrated skin
• Overall loss of a healthy, youthful skin texture and tone

The face becomes longer and more rectangular as the natural aesthetic curves begin to flatten. The natural ageing process can be accelerated by genetics, facial expressions and extrinsic factors like a poor diet, smoking and sun exposure. These all cause oxidative stress, a key component of the ageing process, that appears as fine lines, hyperpigmentation, unevenness of skin tone, sagging skin and advanced wrinkling.

Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an extract of your own blood that contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. It has been used medically for years to accelerate wound healing; repair tendon, ligament and joint damage; heal diabetic ulcers; and help regrow muscle and bone. When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or micro-needling, it initiates a localized stem cell response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.

Advantages of PRP
The potential benefits of PRP have led to a recent widespread interest in its use for anti-ageing and regenerative purposes. The healing properties of the blood components in PRP can be used as a cosmetic treatment for the following:
• Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
• Tightening and toning skin
• Mild collagen and volume loss
• Crow’s feet and dark under eye circles
• Acne scarring
• Rosacea

The PRP Facial Rejuvenation Procedure
A small blood sample is taken from your own body and the PRP is separated from the other components in a special centrifuge, this concentrate and separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. Micro-needling uses a sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin. This initiates the skin’s repair process to naturally produce collagen and elastin, ideal for smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks. Micro-channels created by the treatment allow for optimal absorption of topical products and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), enhancing their effects in the deeper layers of skin. Micro-needling with PRP application is an ideal treatment for smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, or even increasing plumpness and overall rejuvenation of the skin.

PRP is a simple and safe procedure. The most common side effects are mild swelling and bruising that may last a few days. Because the PRP is extracted from your own blood, there is no risk of disease transmission, allergic or immune reaction. As with all procedures, however, there are certain health conditions, such as auto-immune and blood disorders, that may limit its use. There is exciting potential for the use of PRP in regenerative, anti-ageing and cosmetic medicine. It is a safe, effective and natural way of harnessing the healing power of your own blood to help reverse the signs of ageing. As part of an integrated approach to skincare that addresses both internal and external factors, PRP can be your natural fountain of youth.

Within a few weeks of treatment, an overall improvement in skin hydration, texture and tone can be seen. New collagen and blood vessels begin to grow after three to six weeks, and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and volume correction happens over the next three to six months. The effects of PRP can last 12 months to two years, depending on the individual. While it creates a longer-lasting effect in the skin, it does take time to work. For clients looking for an immediate effect, PRP can be combined with hyaluronic fillers for quick volume correction. Fillers provide a matrix for building new collagen and can be used to accelerate and sustain the benefits of PRP.
